California Residential Care Hero Awards

California Department of Social Services (CDSS)

The California Residential Care Hero Awards are one-time stipends of $500 for qualified caregivers currently working on the frontline in Residential Care Facilities for the Elderly (RCFEs) and Continuing Care Retirement Communities (CCRC). Priority will be given to those caregivers working in COVID-19 positive facilities. All other awards are available on a first come, first served basis until the funds are expended.

Once an application has been submitted applicants will receive a confirmation email. Applications are then reviewed, and if approved, applicants will receive an approval email from the California Residential Care Hero Awards program. CDSS is currently processing a high volume of applications. The awards will be issued by mail and may take six to eight weeks to arrive.
